Greenslopes State School 2020

The Greenslopes State School contract included a full roof replacement to A Block to be completed in 15 days of the June/July holidays, 2020. Corrugated iron 0.48 sheets were used for the 900m² building. Additionally, new gutters were connected to the existing downpipes. As the building was heritage listed, particular care was needed to ensure preservation of this historic structure.

The steep roof pitch of 35° created challenges to working safely. To mitigate this risk, various systems were used including safety harnesses, specifically designed roof ladders and full height scaffold. Roof sheet packs needed to be securely strapped while unattended. Temperatures during winter meant heavy dew on work surfaces created additional challenges. Consequently, the early hours of the day were used in preparation to preempt the day’s work targets and allow roofs to dry. The client was particularly pleased with the successful completion of this project in 9 days instead of the allocated 15, further commending Kelly Group on excellent workmanship.
